Directions

You first need to get to Puerto Nuevo. From Santa Marta the bus takes about 1,5 hours, from palomino 40 minutes. In Puerto Nuevo you take a 1 hour motor taxi ride up to the hostel.

We advise to get the bus in Santa Marta at 8AM. Then you'll arrive around 11AM here. It sometimes rains in the afternoon and then there will not be any motor taxis to take you up to our place.

To the bus in Santa Marta

In Santa Marta, you take the bus from 'el mercado', not from the main bus station. Ask your taxi for 'el bus por Palomino'.

To the hostel

Tell the motor taxi you want to go to 'Blue Dot'. They know our place. This is a beautiful thrilling ride through the jungle that takes about 1 hour.

The cost for this ride is $45k COP. Please feel free to give the motor taxi a tip if you liked their service. It helps them a lot! There is also a $15k COP entrance fee into the 'Lost City' area.

The driver can take about 100kg up with him. So if you are heavy and with a big heavy backpack and a heavy daypack, you might need 2 moto's because of safety, It's a challenging ride so we want both you and the drivers to do it comfortably.

Sitting on the back of a motorbike:
The drivers prefer it if your weight is as far forward as possible. This makes the bike more stable and keeps the weight on the front wheel which is important for steering, especially going up hill. So get as close to the driver as you feel comfortable. You can wrap your arms around their waist. Do not grab their shoulder, since you'd be pulling on the steering wheel. When going uphill and the driver will lean forward, lean forward with them.

For stability, you squeeze the hips of your driver with your knees. You can also hold the bars on the bike with one hand behind you. Just make sure you're not leaning back, since then you'll be wobbling. Better hug the driver for stability. And most importantly: Enjoy! We trust these guys completely, they drive this road every day multiple times.

Getting to the hostel building

The moto will drop you off at the river. There's a little cable cart that you climb into and pull yourself across.
Get out and turn left, up the hill. Then just follow the stone path. Close the gate behind you please.
